North Lebanon's main feature lies in its notable number of medieval castles, churches and monasteries scattered all across its landscape. Many of these crusader structures have remained to this day and are in use by the local communities.

Lebanon tourism opportunities are waiting to be unveiled. Lebanon’s location, its people’s entrepreneurial spirit, and its natural and cultural assets remain strong. Although they have been affected by the political environment, Lebanon is now enjoying a clearer sky, and is ready to bounce back into the top ranking destinations of the world.

This year, 2009: *Beirut is the World Book Capital *Beirut will host the francophone games and events. *Beirut was named the No. 1 destination in New York Times for the year 2009 among other 44 recommended destinations.

Lebanon can compete with other destinations in many niche tourism markets, like gastronomy, hiking and trekking, MICE, shopping, chic tourism, and many other yet undiscovered tourism opportunities.
